It was the Fourth of July, but of course we would not be celebrating it the same way as back home. We did go out for breakfast, which we ate outside since the weather was beautiful. I had chilaquiles (something that has become one my favorite Mexican dishes), and was not disappointed.

We then walked around and found a nice chocolate shop, which caused me a great temptation, even though I did not buy anything. We then rented bikes to get over to the area containing Palacio de Bellas Artes, or Palace of Fine Arts. What we had learned was that there was a department store nearby and you simply went up to level 8 and ate at the restaurant there. It was a little busy but we managed to get a table and after some people left, we got to sit near the ledge and get great photos of the Palace. Highly recommended

Then we spent some time in a really nice church where I took far too many photos. After that we went over to Starbucks for some coffee and to use the restrooms, and we then found a post office that was the most beautiful inside I've ever seen. Terry then headed back to the flat as he wasn’t feeling too well so Lesly and I continued walking. We passed by a gazebo with people taking ballroom or salsa dancing lessons. Then we decided to ride rent bikes again and bike to a waterpark way out west in the city. Well the only problem was that the farther we got to the outskirts of town, the more the roads lacked any sort of bicycle separation, and before we knew it, we were on roads going alongside freeway speed traffic; yeah, that was a little frightening, but we were already committed, so there was no way to avoid it. The main issue was we just had to cross over the street and it wasn't easy to do when both directions of traffic were going 50 mph. Nevertheless, we were both successful and got over to a nice lake or pond. The main waterways were not on that day so that was disappointing, though the area was still very nice. I was glad we checked out that part of the city.

It was then time to turn around and bike all the way home. It was just cool to see all the different streets with the trees growing all around the old houses, and all the old architecture. Everything was just beautiful and memorable. It definitely took some time, but we finally made it back to the flat after turning in our bikes.

I must say that while I was a little hesitant at first, the bike rental program out there is really convenient. You just pay a short amount of money with a credit card and find a bike in one of the nearby stands, and then you can rent bikes continually for 24 hours. I think the cost was probably the equivalent of eight dollars, so it's a great deal if you make use of it.

Then we met up with Terry and headed out to find a karaoke place, but weren't really successful in finding what we wanted. There was a nice beer garden, so we had some beers and food outdoors and enjoyed the evening. It was my final night there. Afterwards, we headed back to the flat. I packed up as I was leaving early the next morning. It was sad that it was the last night. The vacation had sped by all too fast.
