The last morning. I woke up a little earlier than usual and got ready to go. But there was some time before my ride to the airport, so we all watched an episode of “Breaking Bad.” Then Serena drove me over to Fort Myers Airport.

I checked my bag again and went through security. Zero line, as usual for TSAPreCheck there. I figured I should head over to the gate as they often seem to board early there...and they were boarding early. Fine by me. I got on the plane and sat in 4C. I didn’t ask to switch this time. The lady next to me seemed happy with the window seat.

My meal was one of the better ones I’ve had on flights. It was a scrambled eggs mix, but with some shredded chicken along with that. Plus, there were some diced potatoes. I couldn’t eat a lot of it, but enjoyed the limited amount I did eat. I passed on a drink for the time being (aside from water).

Later in the flight, I opted for a glass of whiskey. I was nursing it a long time when the lady next to me had to use the restroom. I packed up my dinner tray and took my backpack and got out of the row. This would have been fine, but the lady accidentally knocked over my whiskey class (horror!) and it spilled completely into my seat. She was quite apologetic about it, but I calmly just said it was no big deal—just a simple accident that could happen to anyone.

And really, it was. Could have been me that knocked it over. Plus, I wasn’t splashed by it since I was out of my chair, so no real harm. She went to the front and got some paper towels. I mopped it all up and everything was fine for sitting down again. The flight attendant came over with a replacement whiskey and said that the lady commented how kind I had been throughout the incident. It was nice to hear, but I believe I just did what any civilized person would do: not overact and just deal with what happened in a nice polite way.

Finally, we landed in Seattle. And boy, it was COLD! I had been wearing my light sweatshirt, but that wasn’t enough for the Seattle cold and this was just in the airport. But my jacket was in my suitcase, so I had to wait for that to arrive. Yeah, not too good. When it finally came onto the carousel, I grabbed it and got my coat on. Ahhh!

Then it was time to summon Uber. The price wasn’t too bad and I was quite eager to get home and warm again. And in 30 minutes I was back home and sitting in front of the fireplace.
