Another two show day for me. The first one was at the Globe Theater, where I would be seeing “Much Ado About Nothing.” Thus, I had to make my way over there. I of course got some pictures of the iconic theater and even some of the exhibits inside. I then bought a drink, rented a cushion, and found my seat.
For once, I would be actually sitting up in the stands. This was because I had already stood as a groundling twice in years prior, and that was enough for me. It gets tiring standing for three hours. True, the stands are far more expensive, but a much easier way to enjoy the show, especially if you're in the very front. Well, I say that; however, a problem with being in the front is the sun, which was beating down on my face, and I had to use my hand to block it for quite some time.
The show was very well done. It was a somewhat modernization of the play, where they placed it in the 20th century just after World War II. And it worked fine. The only main problem was they added a running fountain for a visual affect, but the noise from the fountain hindered being able to hear the actors who were of course not miked, so I thought it was a ridiculous addition to have it running. In fact, I almost left at intermission because of that annoyance, but I stayed and thankfully they turned it off for the second act. Maybe they read my mind.
Once the show was over, I took some 360 photos of being inside the globe, and then walked back to Holborn, so I could take photos of Saint Paul’s and other iconic places along the way. I had a short break back at the flat, and then I had to head out to see “Back to the Future” at night.
The show was very entertaining and really well done. Granted, all of the new songs were not memorable, but they were still fun to watch. It was the old Huey Lewis songs that of course really struck a chord. The musical basically just re-tells the story of the movie, but that was fine with me. It was just a really fun time and I was amazed at what they could do with special effects on stage these days. That was it for Friday.
