It’s always on the last day that I think, “Why didn’t I book two weeks instead of one?” Or three in cases when I book two. The time just flies by no matter if I’m mainly in the flat, or taking trips to faraway cities each day.
I’d taken the photos I wanted to take. So I packed up and headed out early, like real early, around 6am. The Tube station was probably 50 feet from the apartment so off to Leicester Square Station I went.
After some time on trains, I was back at Heathrow. Before entering security, I did wander around a bit to see some things I’d never seen before. The water fountains were new to me. And I headed outside to catch some of the morning air and sunrise. Only once had I ever been dropped off at LHR and that was when I was a student and took a taxi to the airport. I was quite a bit hungover that time, but felt much better today.
Finally, I went to security. For first class, you get a private security area with 12 agents solely dedicated to first class passengers. After that, you get a dedicated TSA for first class. It’s wild. And of course essentially zero wait.
Though there was a wait as the worker checked the bag for the person in front of me for like 10 minutes. Then they checked MY bag for ten minutes. Virtually everything inside my bags were scanned and inspected. Kind of annoying, but it’s for safety and that’s fine with me. It was just robbing from my lounge time.
After my bags were cleared, it was off to the Concorde Lounge I went. Once inside, I headed to my normal area on the open deck area. It’s just so fancy out there. Nice couches and unlimited drinks and food. It’s like a restaurant. They offer a menu and you order whatever you like for free. The main goal is to avoid getting full there and not on the flight. I did my best.
Alas, not much time to spend there. After 30 minutes, I went to the gate. I was a little late so I wasn’t first in line and that meant boarding with all the others. We all had to take buses to the plane, which really didn’t fit the first class experience, but on the other hand, I got to see the outside of the plane much better and take photos.
Soon, I was in my first class seat. Once again, a very exquisite experience. Up in the air, I did the normal routine of getting fancy wine and having fancy food. That’s what it’s all about.
Once I was asleep in the lie-flat bed, time flew by fast and I arose as we were getting close to landing. I even missed breakfast, but that was okay with me. I packed my things up and we touched down in Seattle.
Then it was time to depart and go through immigration. I had my Global Entry so it was shockingly fast. But the trip was pretty much over then. I summoned Uber and headed back into Seattle.
Another fun but fast trip to London in the books.
