The next morning we were supposed to head to Siesta Beach, but everyone was moving a little slowly and it was soon close to noon. The beach wouldn’t really be feasible as thunderstorms often occur in the early afternoon there, and the area of the beach was supposed to have one. So we opted for some local places instead.

First up was a small beach access location at the end of a street. There wasn’t really any parking, but we pulled over and checked out the ocean some. Wasn’t really a place to swim either—and the water didn’t look safe to be walking around in. We did gather some shells and just enjoyed the scenery some. Then off to another spot.

We found a cool outdoor restaurant on a canal, where we could enjoy some beers and take photos of the pelicans on the water and on the piers. Some fun photos were taken there. Those places are wonderful when the weather is nice. Just have to avoid being in the sunlight.

Then it was off to another quaint spot on the water. That area had a nice long pier to stroll down. Always fun to see the ocean from the viewpoint of a pier. The restaurant itself was a little shabby. The ceiling was even falling down near a bar that was a bit sus. No thanks. Service was missing too. We left to find a better place.

One thing we did was drive down some roads where homes were really destroyed by the hurricane. Some were gone completely, some were half sunk. Others just had a massive amount of damage. I guess it takes quite a long time to fully recover from the damage of a large hurricane.

We did find a cool pizza spot that Serena liked. It was called Nice Guys Pizza. And maybe the owners are nice, but the pizza is just weird. It’s just the kind of place where they take pizza but put very odd topping on it. We had one with honey and basil, which seemed to be the tamest of options (one had peanut butter). It wasn’t awful, though I much prefer standard pizza. It reminded me of how Voodoo Donuts will mix a lot of sweet stuff on donuts, but there, it works since it’s just different arrangements of sugar. I’m not convinced the pizza thing works; however, many do seem to go for it, and the place has been in business a while. To each his own. I didn’t critique it during our meal though.

Pizza being finished, we headed to a comedy club to watch one of the actors perform. She wasn’t in the dinner show that weekend, but does shows for the company on occasion. The event was a roast of a person leaving the troop or venue. So each comedian got up and roasted the guy for several minutes. The audience seemed to enjoy it. I guess it helps if you know all the inside jokes. Otherwise, something like that just comes off as cruel and mean-spirited. Our actress, Stacey, did a great job.

It had been a long day and we returned to the house to relax and sleep.
