This was something totally new for me. I was going to be a traveling actor--at least for one show. A friend had started a dinner theater company in Florida. Actually, she was the daughter of the guy that ran the company out in California, so I knew them all very well. At any rate, she had started a company and this was her first show, and as I had done the show in California years ago, I agreed to come out and do the show in Florida. It was quite an exciting adventure.
Of course, with flying there are risks of delays and cancellations. And that happened on the very first flight. Well, it was just a delay, but still kind of alarming. We were delayed a couple hours and even had to switch planes, but the flight still went out. Crisis averted. Next thing I knew I was in the air and heading to Florida.
Luckily, I got a first class upgrade so the seat was comfortable. I was served a meal of meat, potatoes, salad, bread, and veggies, and I ordered a scotch to go with it. There were some nice snowy views on the way; however, the terrain was changing quickly, and we were soon in hot and tropical Florida. My first experience of that was when I got off the plane and out of the airport (also Fort Myers was brand new to me). It was just so humid. Because I was so late, I wasn't able to get a ride from my friend. I hired Uber and took that to the house. People were still up, so we chatted a bit, and then I went to bed on the couch.
