I finally was able to meet up with Steve and we all got breakfast at the hotel. It was located at the bar. I guess that was the hub of most of the trip. But it was a nice place to hang out. In the afternoon, we traveled out to the Miami Beach part of town. That meant calling an Uber. Also, the rain was coming. I had not thought to bring my umbrella. We ate at a nice outdoor sidewalk restaurant and it was Mexican or Cuban themed. The atmosphere really made it feel like we were all in Mexico once again. I mean you really couldn’t tell it was part of the US. The food…eh, nothing too great. Oh well.
Soon, the rain was coming down in buckets. Florida rain just has no limits. It goes from sunny to downpour in no time and the coverings in the place were not too effective. We hailed an Uber to get back to the hotel. Steve rested for a bit. I think I returned to the bar.
In the evening, we walked down to find dinner. A few of the places look interesting but had more of a lively and loud club atmosphere which isn’t great for relaxing and chatting. Luckily, we located a great BBQ place that was mostly empty and had some excellent BBQ. Just a nice way to spend the final evening.
Once Steve headed back to the room, we found the bar and soon enough, Bridget and her friends arrived. The convention was over for them. We ended up hanging out a hotel party before heading to another hotel party. One thing I noticed is that people seem okay with smoking in their room. I guess the party vibe was stronger than worrying about the deposit. But yeah, I certainly wasn’t going to have anyone coming to MY hotel room.
Finally, it was back to the waterfront to just talk and watch more boats go by. Most of the group had to be up early so one by one they left. I imagined rough plane flights for them the next day.
