Time to visit a new city. Today, we went to Cozumel. Getting there is quite easy. You walk a few streets down to the ferry terminal, buy tickets and then hop on board. The price is about $20 round trip. It was hard to tell how much people were marking up the ticket costs, so we bought them as close to the terminal as possible. In the end, the prices might not have been marked up much at all. The ferry ride is a little dull and takes about 40 minutes. Definitely do sit outside though. Soon, we were disembarking in Cozumel.
The port area is mainly shops and peddlers. We then found a scooter place and got some info. The prices were not too bad, but I had no driver’s license with me so I could not rent one. Terry and Steve did and soon were riding around the island. Me? I just started walking around and examining the city.
Now, there really isn’t much to see, and the weather was also now very sunny and I was soon worried about a sunburn since I had no sunscreen on my face. I just did my best to cover up and not face the sun. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a hat either since I had left it at home.
I had thought about walking to the other side of the island, but then got out my phone and realized it was over 10 miles wide. That would not do. So I headed East a bit and then back to the port area. Luckily, I found a nice little bar and had a cold beer, however, I was running low on money. I also had not brought my wallet or credit cards. In general, I just usually only bring some cash with me each day. No risk of losing anything (or getting pickpocketed) that way. It works fine … unless you go through your daily money.
I got a text that Steve’s scooter had broken down, so they would be quite delayed. No sense waiting around. I took the ferry back to the Playa and then returned home. Since it was Thursday, I went over to the NFL bar and watched the Thursday night football game.
