This wasn’t exactly a milage run since I was also using the trip to visit friends, and get in a dinner theatre rehearsal, though I suppose it also wasn’t totally necessary, so it was 50% a mileage run.
I was getting closer to reaching my milage goal and trips to Fort Myers are among the best value for miles. Certainly, New York can sometimes be a good deal, but with Florida, I have lodging for free, and in NYC, hotels get very expensive.
So for $150 each way, Fort Myers was a great deal.
With an 8:15am flight, I had to wake at 6am. Since bedtime was 2am, that was a little tough, but I managed to get going with at least some energy. I took Uber to the airport for roughly $50. It would have been $42 if I had left 20 minutes prior. Fares change fast.
This was the first time that I tried the Reserved Security Check Appointment. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was pretty much a normal security process aside from needing a barcode to get in line. I would say that the line was about the same time/length of TSA Precheck, so hard to say if I saved any time. Plus, since my appointment was for 7:30am, I was locked into that schedule, which would have been an issue if my flight had been delayed. Anyway, otherwise, SOP.
I didn’t receive an upgrade for the trip, but premium was fine and there was no person in the middle seat. I got a drink on the way and then subscribed to WIFI so I could watch the football games. This greatly helped pass the time. Highly recommend that for Sunday flights.
It was late afternoon when I landed. I had to take Uber to my friend’s house, which was fine with me. There, I hung out for a while with John and we watched “Dr. Sleep.” Okay, movie and I’d say the book was better, though even the book wasn’t really stellar. Serena came home late and we all watched some of a movie. Soon, everyone crashed. That was easy for me since I’d only had four hours of sleep.
