Another first for me. I was flying to Boise, Idaho. What's funny is I had actually been to Idaho twice before, but only to Coeur d'Alene, and another place up north (for skiing) in the state, but never to Boise.
The purpose of the trip was to visit my family for Thanksgiving. It was a day past Thanksgiving, but I abhor flying on chaotic holiday occasions, when I don't have to fly. It's just too much insanity. There's no reason why a holiday has to be on the exact day, so I elected to come up the day after where the crowds would be gone.
It still didn't allow for much time because I also had to fly back home before the second insane travel day, but this still worked, and a short trip is better than no trip. Plus with short trips, I can do them more frequently.
I got there late Friday night and my parents asked if I would take Uber to the house, which was a smart idea as the roads were covered in ice. It definitely was difficult finding an Uber or Lyft driver willing to go out at that hour, but some people had vehicles to handle the conditions and I was finally able to find someone to take me over to Middleton, Idaho – where my parents had their new house. It would be my first Thanksgiving with them in their new place, and it was their first turkey day there as well. They had a guest room for me so I was able to crash there. I think only my dad was still awake as I had arrived around one or two in the morning.
