Parking was—you guessed it—ParkSFO! After settling in there, the shuttle took me to SFO airport, but first I took a photo of my parking space, just to be able to find my car later.
I had a little time to check out some of the exhibits at the airport, which I don’t do enough. SFO had some pretty cool displays so they are worth observing, and they’re free. My seat was upgraded to first class, so plenty of room. This was a 7am flight over to JFK airport. Breakfast was served. It was some eggs, bacon, fruit, a roll, and yogurt. Definitely more than enough to eat. Plus, real silverware for first class.
Once at JFK, I took the air train and then the railroad and got out at Penn Station. I walked several blocks and then checked into my hotel. I stayed at the Hampton Inn on 35th near the Empire State Building. For two nights, the total cost was $600. Yeah, not cheap to stay in Manhattan.
I didn’t have long. I had to then walk down to Greenwich Village to meet a friend for drinks. I met up with Jennifer and we caught some live jazz music at a place called Groove. Pretty fun atmosphere. After some time there, we headed over to a karaoke place—along with a new friend who we invited to join us.
At the karaoke place, we rented a room and just sang and drink for about four hours. There was eight people packed into the small room, but it was all good fun. Afterwards, we headed over to a place called Joe’s Pizza, which sold...pizza. The slices were cheap. I’m not a big NYC pizza fan as it’s a little too thin and plain for my taste, but when you’re starving, it’s not a bad deal.
With that being done, we all said farewell and headed separate ways. I opted to walk back to my hotel, stopping for a little fast food on the way. Then I was soon sleeping in my hotel room, exhausted after such a packed day.
