    Ah, the lost weekend.

That’s the name of a movie, but kind of my experience. At least with one Sunday evening, where I have very limited memory of what took place.

I mainly remember going into a football game around 5pm and then “coming to” around midnight, somewhere in downtown Seattle. The rest is a blur.

The weekend was about visiting friends and attending the game. The plan was for four of us where maybe Lesly could invite a cute coworker. But then it became three of us. Then Lesly could not go, so it would just be me and Terry. But Terry had a last-minute business trip so it was going to be me and Adam. And that worked fine.

I flew in a couple of days prior and hung out. We had Clay Pit for dinner and shopped around a bit.

On game day, I got a ride from Bri to the bus station and then took a bus to downtown Seattle, where I met up with Adam. We then ran into some of his friends and got some drinks at a bar. Notably, one lady offered me her beer, which she had been offered from a stranger and then didn’t want it. I didn’t really think twice about it, but in hindsight it could have been that he had given her a spiked drink and it was then handed off inadvertently to me. All I knew is that I knew very little after we left the bar.

But I guess we entered the game and got our seats. I had to use the bathroom and did so, but then stumbled a lot coming back. I was picked up by security and then booted me from the game.

Trouble is I had dropped my phone and it stopped working. I could not call anyone and I didn’t know any phone numbers by heart. Not a good situation to be in.

Not knowing what to do, I guess i figured I would just walk back home—to Bellevue. Many miles away. But somehow that journey took several hours and I ended up right back downtown. At that point, I was gaining some clarity again. I tried my phone and it did work. I called my friends and they picked me up. Finally, I got back home.

The next morning, I was on a plane back home. I had lost my credit cards when my phone dropped as the plastic case was lost. But my license was in my wallet in my back pocket. I was highly thankful for that. Otherwise, I would be taking a bus home.

A few weeks later, I got a letter in the mail from the football stadium. Turns out they had taken down my license info and now were stating I could not return to their stadium. UNLESS I completed a $250 “code of conduct” class online, which was four hours long. But the fee alone meant I would never return. It’s more fun just being banned from a stadium and a far more interesting story to tell.

I probably will never know exactly what happened. Perhaps a drugged drink. Perhaps just too much booze in general.

Though it did cause me to give up drinking for a year.
