It was show day. I slept in for a little while, but then got ready to check out. My headache was still there, although not quite as strong. I would have a couple of hours before my carpool ride arrived, which isn’t ideal, but it does give me time to go exploring. After checking out, I walked over to in-N-Out Burger and got another burger and vanilla shake. This time I drank about a third of the shake and then threw the rest away. Wasteful I know, but I just wanna taste it without getting fat on the calories. I saved the burger for later.
Next, I walked down to Stoneridge Drive and then over to the “waterpark.” I always make a joke about it being a waterpark, but never any running water there because of years of droughts. However, even that's not totally correct anymore, because there were kids playing in the water. I guess maybe when it's hot, or during the summer, they do allow it to be running. Or maybe it’s always possible if one just presses the large buttons. It's nowhere near what it was once designed to be, with little rivers and water flowing around. I think they now maintain a very reduced version, but it does allow for people to push buttons and have water come out of tall spouts, and the kids seem to really like it. I would've even played in it, had not been people around.
But I hung out there for a while and enjoyed my burger. I also changed my pants back into my shorts. It was about 90° and I was really feeling the heat. My body still wasn't recovered from whatever was affecting it. But I walked around the park a little bit and played on my phone and then finally went over to the carpool lot.
Unfortunately, the people picking me up were having some traffic issues, so it was delayed about an hour with me just sitting on a bench getting text updates with added delays, and that wasn't fun but what can you do. Eventually, they showed up and we drove down to San Jose. Thankfully, there was space in the parking lot, so it was a quick walk inside. Whenever I travel there, I bring my suitcase into the restaurant, so I don't have to leave it in the car. San Jose is just not a place where you wanna leave things in your car. Well, probably not in any big city.
We went upstairs and got ready for the show. I didn't have any cowboy boots with me because…well, because I no longer own a pair. The pair I bought for OKLAHOMA! over 20 years ago just got too worn out. I had just counted on wearing my chaps over my black HOKAs; however, they did have an extra pair of low top shoes that look like cowboy shoes from the bottom, so I wore that with the chaps covered the top part. They provided the rest of the costume, except the trench coat, which they didn't have. Once again, I was Black Eyed Pete—aside from the black eye because I forgot to pack my mini make-up kit for dinner shows.
The crowd totaled about 32 people , nd that worked well for the upstairs room. It's nice to have room to walk around the tables. The audience was fantastic and really seemed to enjoy the show. Everything went splendid, and I think we also were all happy with it. Afterwards, we took photos and packed everything up.
I got a ride over to Tenaya's place. They were still awake so we chatted for a little bit. And then I went out to the room in the garage, which is pretty much an Airbnb now (just without a bathroom). Still, I wasn't feeling great, so I went to bed very fast.
