Travel Diary

The final full day. I spent the morning reading lines and returning to the land of booze. Yup. The time had come. A year had passed a couple of days before. I guess I was in no hurry. But an IPA was staring at me in the fridge and I finally decided it was time.

I grabbed the IPA and sat out on the back patio and made a video of it. As far as the experience, I think it was a bit disappointing. The taste was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. My streak was over though. I had choices once again. A while later, I dipped into a more potent IPA with about 9% alcohol. Between the two of them, they made me incredibly drowsy, which wasn't ideal since I had a show in the evening. But it was also nothing I couldn't muster up for. I took a quick nap, but soon it was time to get ready to go. I found my costume which would be a bit odd since I was dressing like the traditional version of the mystery and it had been updated to 1980s look. So I was wearing 1940s gear in 1980 I guess. Fact is, I own no 1980s fashion now.

We took Uber over to the event and got set up in the green room. The location was the standard and it was right in the heart of downtown Fort Myers. The area is pretty alive with people moving about for different occasions. It had a nice energy to it. Our green room was sort of in the back corner, but we had a nice sliding door to preserve privacy and it made it easy to get in and out for exits. Plus, it was a big table with lots of food. I wasn't very hungry and had a flight the next day, so I was going easy on eating, but there were a lot of snacks and pies and cookies to choose from. Everyone seemed happy about that. We used microphones for the show which helped a lot. The crowd was engaged, but we had outside noise to compete with.

Overall, I think it was a fine show with a few challenges here and there. But again, if the crowd is receptive, then that's really all that matters. It took probably an hour and a half to get out of there, but people were in no hurry and chatting and catching up on things. We took Uber back home again and I chatted with Serena a bit, but we were way too tired to watch any TV shows or movies so we just crashed around 11 PM fairly early for me.
