Our last day was a full day indeed. We left home around 8:30am dropped Sasha off at work. Then we headed south to Fort Myers Beach, facing very little traffic that early in the morning. Parking was tough but we found a 4-hour lot for $20. Sometimes there isn’t much choice. We then headed up to the Margaritaville level that had a bunch of lounge chairs, and places for people to eat and drink. No drinks for me during this trip.
We then found the radio booth or tent. Our contact met us there when we talked over things. It was a fun time. I guess it's not really the “radio” these days, as it's more of a podcast or a live stream on YouTube, which is still pretty cool. The host asked a bunch of questions and we talked about the murder mystery coming up and I did a short little sketch that summarized the beginning of the show.
After that we were free to do whatever we wanted so we walked down to the beach a bit. I sent up the drone for a while, even though the weather wasn't really accommodating for any particularly beautiful shots. But it was still good to fly around and capture a bright sunny day, which was finally fairly hot. After that, we walked down to the Diamondhead resort and another hotel resort, which had been there a long time. It's kind of fun to see these historic type places but again I wasn't really drinking anything and it seemed kind of maybe too warm to be having booze anyway, although most people didn't seem to care about that.
We then walked back to the car and started driving south. We still had a lot of time before the show rehearsal started. It was fun to see all of the expensive mansions along the coast, although with the potential hurricanes, it just seems a bit crazy to build them there not to mention the property taxes and such. Not my thing, but apparently some people enjoy doing that.
We then drove inward a bit and found lunch at Culver's, which I've never been to before, but we split a chicken sandwich which was pretty tasty and some fries. Then we headed over to the venue for the show. Again, we were very early so we had time to just relax and test out the sound system, which actually took quite a long time, but I enjoyed some impromptu karaoke, which I do whenever I get the chance. The venue was hoping we'd use their sound system, but we weren't sure it would be better. Over time the cast arrived, and we all checked our sound levels and then had our rehearsal in the green room. Then it was time for the show.
This was the last of three shows for “Murder in Vegas” and we were all pretty well prepared at this point since we had all done it twice before. Alas, the first scene had some mic issues with the sound system so during the break, we returned to the portable speakers that we brought, which actually work pretty well for the money. Neither system was going to be perfect, but ours was at least much easier to hear. Then we performed the other scenes and it was overall a great show.
Plus, the food was excellent. Everyone was raving about the soft tenderloin, steak and scallops and veggies. I didn't eat much of it at first, but finished a little while later. After the show, we all relaxed and said goodbye and then Serena and I made the long drive back to Cape Coral. Then it was time for a little bit more “Staircase” murders, but Serena fell asleep very quickly so I went to bed pretty early myself it had just been a crazy long day. Well, after doing one last video blog and live stream. It was my first time going to bed after midnight since I’d arrived.
