Once in the air, I got another first class meal, but I just ordered the cheese plate since I wasn't very hungry. Although I was tempted to get that eggplant again since they had it as an option. I put most of it in a baggie for later (which I forgot to chill and threw out the next day). The flight went by pretty fast and soon enough we were landing in New York City at JFK airport. I actually slept for maybe an hour. Perhaps a record.
We didn't have any checked bags, so it was very easy to get down to the arrivals area. But our friend Andrew hadn't left home yet, so we had some time to wait. The airport was under construction at terminal seven, so there weren't many places to hang out or rest or even sit down. But soon enough, Andrew came and picked us up when we were headed to Manhattan. Flash Gordon had approached. It would be fun to see the city once again, as it had been over a year since I was there last. We picked up two more people in the city, and then stopped at a Whole Foods to get some snacks for the road and use the restroom. Then it was time to drive north and up to Sleepy Hollow. There ee visited the famous cemetery and walked around for a bit and took photos. It was a wonderful afternoon with perfect weather. The cemetery was different than I expected, but quite nice. I guess after seeing the movies, you just expect kind of gloomy and dark and a lot of fantasy, but in reality, it's just a nice, pleasant cemetery. After that, we went over to Tarrytown and had some lunch. I split a meal with a friend Lia, even though I still wasn't that hungry since I'd eaten twice on the flight, and no liquor since I was still practicing sobriety. After lunch, we drove north and finally ended up at West Point to take a tour. Jennifer came down from beacon and met us, and we all enjoyed a quick bus tour of the grounds, It's a nice tour, but you don't really get to see all that much and only go inside of one building, so I would say that for $20, it's worth doing once. Just don't expect too much. The view is exceptionally nice though, and you can see why cadets would probably have a nice time there, except during the winter. After that, we drove to get some snacks where I bought a great deal of candy and then up to beacon. We relaxed at the pool and I even went swimming for a bit, although the weather was getting cold fast, so I couldn't stay in for a very long. Then we hung out in front of the fire for some time and eventually everyone just went to sleep. Oh wait, no, that took a long time. We actually stayed up talking until--well, for me it was 6am. Yeah, it was a very long night. Last Entry Next Entry
