The day was spent working on props, mainly the geiger counter. In the late afternoon, we drove on over to the venue, which was quite close. (A rare treat.) We spent some time setting things up and preparing the props for the show. My main focus was getting the karaoke system in place so we'd all have mikes with no sound issues. Later, the other actors arrived and we went over the scenes for the show.
Soon the guests were arriving and the place got quite busy. I got into my Elvis costume, which was snug and thin, but I was prepared for that with some nice white boxer tights.
The show went fairly well with the only complication being that some of the food ran out. Thus, we were delayed by a good half hour to wait for more food. To fill the time, I was asked to do another song which I hadn't prepared for. I figured the only Elvis song that I knew by heart was “Are You Lonesome Tonight.” I studied the lyrics for a few minutes and went out to sing it, and it actually went quite well. I was very happy with how it turned out. Stuff like that is a bit challenging, but exceptionally rewarding when you push yourself to do something unexpected and risky.
We then finish the final scene and I did the final announcements. It was a bit of pressure off our shoulders, having completed the show. The rest of my trip would be just a vacation. Bring on the beer and wine!
We gathered up all the props, and then headed back to Serena's house there we had wine and snacks and chatted for a while. It was a very nice day.
