Ah, the final day. Most of us arose after 9am and had coffee and leftovers. Nothing was really on the agenda, except finishing the last couple of episodes of “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” which we had been watching throughout the weekend. I’d seen it before, yet it was great to watch it again with knowledge of what was going on.
After that, I put on some “Mayor of Kingstown” for the others to watch, though I had to leave around 4pm to head to the airport. I said farewell and summoned an Uber. This was because I hated to ask Serena for a ride since it would mean commute hour traffic during her return, and she already was taking Tony to the airport at 4am the next morning.
I got to the airport with time to spare, so I explored once again. There was no rush. I like having about an hour to kill before the flight. It usually balances out pretty well. I saw the garden area and gazebo as I had a couple of weeks prior.
Then I cleared security and headed to the gate. I thought I was 15 minutes early, and I guess I was, but they started boarded early, which was the second time that happened. Fair enough. Let me on!
I had a first class upgrade once again, which was very welcome as it would be a six-hour flight home. Darn headwinds. After takeoff, I purchased the WIFI package and got some writing done. There was also a football game on (Hawks and Eagles) but it would be too nerve wracking to watch it. However, I was getting updates on a text channel from some friends who were deeply engaged in it.
The meal I had selected was a burger, which I’d never had on a plane before. It was surprisingly tasty. I had passed on the warm nuts – as I didn’t want to fill up before the main course. I also passed up the free ice cream afterwards. It was tough to forgo up these free gifts, but I couldn’t go around eating extra food just because it was free. I did opt for the scotch and a beer though. Some things are just mandatory.
The flight was long but went by fairly fast. I watched some of “Asteroid City,” though it was incredibly boring so that didn’t last long. I did find another movie and I watched that off and on. Since I had WIFI, I could watch any of my own streaming services as an option too. I did a little doodling and journaling, and finally we reached Seattle.
Getting to the gate was delayed, which seem to be happening more and more these days, though Seattle Airport is busier than ever, so I guess that affects things. But finally, we docked and I got off.
I quickly walked to the parking garage and checked both Uber and Lyft. Uber was cheapest but still around $55. So nope. I would be taking the train. I kept walking and reached the station.
The train was slower this time. It just took longer at stations. After finally reached Capital Hill, I exited and walked home, dragging my suitcase with worn wheels behind me. Trip completed.
