Absalom, Absalom!
by William Faulkner
Published in 1936 (I finished it on July 01, 2005)
A book I was supposed to finish for a college class was finally completed over a year later, but nevertheless, it is done. Why did I finally finish it? There was just something compelling about the writing. In a word, it's "disturbing," but not in a Stephen King way. I do recommend it, but with some reserve. The prose is quite tough to understand at times, and occasionally I was quite lost. That said, the writing is still powerful. And the idea of one person's obsession with completing a distorted dream is fun to follow. I'm happy to have read it.

So many books … (you know the rest)
